Elementary Latin: translation of ‘the historian Livy laments’

Wheelock, pp.40-41.

The Roman people were having great souls/spirits and few [small faults].

We were thinking about our duties and always we were praising the glory of war.

But now we have much leisure, and many are greedy.

We are not able to tolerate neither our vices nor the remedies.
