  1. Elementary Latin
    1. Translate the first three sentences: In Asia erat magna urbs, Troia. Ibi rex Priamus vixit. Paris filius illius, Helenam, pulchram feminam Graecam, ceperat [from capio, capere, cepi, captum – capture]. Propter hoc vitium multi Graeci ad Asiam venerant et diu cum Troianis bellum gesserant. Muros autem urbis superare non potuerant.

    Elementary Greek

    1. Translate — remember the 3 different meanings of αύτός.
      1. αὐτὸς γὰρ σώσει τὸν λαὸν [people] αὐτοῦ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν [sin] αὐτῶν.

      2. καὶ ἐγὼ αὐτὸς ἄνθρωπος.

      3. οὐ γὰρ ἐν λόγῳ ἡ βασιλεία [kingdom] τοῦ θεοῦ ἀλλ’ ἐν δυνάμει [power].

      4. ὁ δὲ αὐτὸς διδάσκαλος[teacher] ἄξει [from ἄγω, lead] ἡμᾶς εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.

      5. αὐτὸς γὰρ λέγει [say] τοὺς αὐτοὺς λόγους αὐτοῖς καὶ ἡμῖν.

    History of Rome

    1. Make sure you have done all the reading in Livy, up to page 208 (books 1 and 2),
