First Assignments

To all students in Latin, Greek and Greek tragedy classes:

1) Read the syllabus for your course.

2) Purchase required texts.

3) Our next class meeting will be Friday, September 6, next week. There will be no class on September 3.

 


Elementary Latin

  1. Read in Wheelock, pp. xxxix – xliv and chapter 1, pp. 1-8.
  2. Memorize endings for conjugating a verb in the present tense: o, s, t, mus, tis, nt.

 


Elementary Greek

Memorize the upper and lower letters of the Greek alphabet, p. xxiii. — If you'd like to know more about it, this web page has very detailed information about the alphabet.

Videos that may or may not be helpful: writing the alphabet (longish) — uppercase letterslowercase letters (both shorter).


Theater of the Greeks

Read Agamemnon by Aeschylus in Oresteia, pp. 3-66.

 

Intermediate Latin

Decline and conjugate:

 

Conjugate in present/imperfect/future tenses (active and passive voices):
